Robert Farmer: Press/Reviews
PRESS RELEASE: Philadelphia area artist to release 3rd CD.
ROBERT FARMER WILL BE ‘SEEING RED’ ON JULY 15th.
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Rock artist Robert Farmer has announced the release of his new album, “Seeing Red,” set to hit streets on JULY 15th. Farmer recently signed on with A&R Select, Hollywood’s leading indie A&R firm.
Farmer writes and performs what he describes as “atmospheric rock fused with improvisational feel, using traditional, electronic and other instruments from around the world.”
He is an award-winning musician, taking home both solo artist of the year and best song of the year honors in 2007 competition. His CD “In a Dream” contributed two songs to the soundtrack for “Revelation,” whose trailer will also feature a Farmer song. A music video is also in the works.
IOM Magazine printed a piece on Farmer and also offered an extremely positive review and a one on one interview conducted by Colin Lynch, executive director of www.rcatcommunications.com.
Farmer was a featured artist in Merge Weekly Entertainment Magazine (print and online) and was ranked as one of the country’s top ten artists in Pop, Rock & Electronica categories at www.americanidolunderground.com. At www.garageband.com, he has frequently held track of the day and track of the week honors.
He has worked with Larry Gold, producer and arranger of such artists as Jay Z, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Teddy Pendergrass, George Thorogood, Billy Blaugh and Hank Carter (The Delaware Destroyers). Farmer is currently in collaboration with Ed Unitsky, a Belarus artist who is designing Farmer’s latest effort. Frankford Wayne Recording Studios, which has served the likes of Suzanne Vega, Moby, Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Erykah Badu and more, is doing the mastering on “Seeing Red.”
Farmer has shared the stage with such superstars as Patti Smith, James Cotton and Robert Hunter of The Grateful Dead, just to name a handful.
“I’m dedicated to producing original recordings for release and sale, as well as promoting soundtracks for movies and television,” says Farmer of his current activities – besides polishing work on his forthcoming disc.
Of “Seeing Red,” he says, “This is an incredible production of alternative rock mixed with the power of fusion/improvisation and influenced by the music, people and events in the world today. ‘Seeing Red’ is a collision of the independent music revolution and the new political revolution.”
He believes that it is something only an indie artist could have gotten away with creating and cites his new album as an example of artistic freedom.

Robert Farmer .. ..In A Dream..
Label: Independent Producer: Robert Farmer
Release Date: 2006
* * * * *
Robert has managed to produce a debut album of stunning worth and equally stunning quality. 'In a Dream' - a rich assortment of skill, talent, and remarkable craftsmanship in music production and sound engineering.
'Angel On The Rooftop' meanwhile is a remarkable achievement musically.
A mood devouring collage of spectacularly conceived instrumentation and sparkling percussion work. All of this is blanketed by a very persuading attention grabber of a vocal that works so well it's hard to resist playing the track over and over again!
'Coming Back To Philadelphia' is a phenomenally brilliant track that I should have heard been given overplay at most FM stations I've plugged into across the planet. For it's complete ingenuity in delivery, production, and musicianship, the track is quite probably one of the best I have ever heard from an independent artist. Watch out for the mesmerizing guitar work and vocals working hand in hand with one another! Brilliant!
A superb example of what's possible... brought to the world by someone who knows exactly where that very fine line is drawn!
'In a Dream' by Mr. Robert Farmer is an absolute must for any sensible person's CD collection, for any responsible person's iPod, and for any aspiring musician and composer who'd like some hints at what's possible at the upper end of the excellence spectrum. Buy this album if you have more than a few brain cells... it'll be the best thing you did in a very long time because it's quite possibly one of the best albums your likely to hear outside of a major label's A&R department!

SHOULD BE PLAYED ON EVERY ALTERNATIVE STATION!!
This work is superbly produced and arranged. Guitar work is unbelievable! Going from "tough" Merle Haggard twang electric to beautiful "Yes" acoustic. One of the most original and creative works I've heard yet on the internet. Should be played on every alternative station.
Great guitars, keyboards, production, mood and originality.
HEY MOVIE GUYS!!! HERE IT IS!
Wow this is a really great CD! The guitar is outstanding! I have never heard such a beautiful combination of acoustic and tech combined. Quite a task! The electronica geeks overdo and the true acoustical genius doesn't know their way around a keyboard.........You my friend have mastered both! This will be in a movie, mark my words!

MISTY SOUNDSCAPE
The Pink Floyd type atmosphere and vocals really get you involved. Voice has a nice deep tone to it and much time has been spent on the arrangment of the synth parts esp. Sounds a bit like Damien Rice string arrangements. Could possibly even have gone into "Labyrinth" soundtrack type spirals. Conjures up imagery of lonely wandering the misty moors in search of a lost fragment of memory.
Echo and The Bunnymen on The Dark Side Of The Moon
Some great things going on in this CD-super production, fantastic layers of keyboards, a little David Gilmore strata guitar going on in the background and reverb on the voice that actually works. The voice is very Ian McCullock (echo and the bunnymen) mixed with a little David Gilmore. I could see this as a b-side to 'The Wall' by Pink Floyd.
The bells scattered over the top are a great touch. Even the keyboard punctuations, as dissonant as they are, work very fluidly. I listened to it twice! GREAT JOB! Very cool chill-Out production.
With a Name Like Synth, It Has to Be Good!
I don't have a penchant for the electronic when it's not a part of an over ambitious reinvention experiment-but this band pulls out all the stops, wiring track after track of cool synths, programs, and sound effects into one smooth, palatable motif. The baritone sings nicely, and the lyrics keep up an air of gravity without implying too much drama. Interesting harmonies also, might I add. Good production and mood. This is well thought out!
EACH SONG IS A GEM
"Each song is a gem individually, whatever the tempo, yet the band maintains complete continuity throughout their show. They have the ability to write songs that have both sensitivity and balls, without molding to anyone else's standards of excellence, plus continue to mature and expand as one of the premiere talents in the Philadelphia area".
PAINTING WITH SOUND
Cinematic feel to this moody soundscape. Commanding vocals narrate and sing with a quiet swagger, dancing with a cello and promising his heart to an angel while the drip drop synthy hook carries our ears away. I like this one very much.
EXCITING, TASTEFUL, DYNAMIC!
"Projects the strength of Philadelphia, add the drive of Detroit and Oakland with a touch of Atlanta. Employing all the electronic sophistication of today but has not become subservient to it. Exciting tasteful-dynamic with showmanship and presence, the result is a well integrated whole, forceful and moving".
